There are 2 types of accelerations on electric skateboards. The irst type can get you there to 20mph that takes little longer and has low G force and the other has super high torque and also gets you to the top speed but is capable of throwing you off because the G force is so high. The Eglide you need to hold on to something or you can be thrown off. They even have angled edges you can press your feet into which if you don't I get thrown right off. But if you can get used to that power, its the most thrilling when you have that G force behind you.

Note: Unless the battery is strong enough and has a lot of storage, it can give you this power but only have a short run time. Many people choose a lower amperage and lower acceleration to get 20 miles per charge while others want it for pure fun and want half the run time.

I love the rush when I am accelerated fast and also like getting top speed up a hill. Some boards just have one or the other. If you want both then you probably are going to end up having to get a board with an amperage near 18 amps (larger amperage models won't probably fit under the board so 18 is the highest unless the motors are on top.

It is hard to have super fast acceleration and also get top speed on boards under 800 watts. If you look at some boards their top speed is lower but they have super torque and other boards have super fast top speeds but their torque isn't as high. Some of the cheaper import boards I tested can go at top speeds over 24 but have much less torque than the motors that are better designed.

If I want the best of both worlds, the fastest acceleration and fastest top speed, then 800 constant watts or more (not peak watts) with at least 18 amps should be ample.

Note that their are a lot of boards that can accelerate fast and reach top speed but they might not have the dampeners to prevent speed wobble at super fast speeds. Some boards have hydraulic dampeners to make the ride more stable. Just because they say you can reach a certain top speed, it doesn't mean its gonna be stable at that speed if their board is inferior. I am not trying to spook people out of buying cheaper built boards but its only what I have noticed. Many people want to accelerate fast and reach tops speed and use stiffer bushings. This makes it hard to turn unless someone just wants to reach tops speeds and not going to turn and move around the streets.

The fastest accelerating electric skateboards have most torque. It can either be done by having more wattage or gearing down to affect the torque by more rpms. A motor can be 1 horsepowerbut after gearing it down for higher rpms it affects torque and a 1 hp motor can have a larger output than its input horsepower. The Pipemaster has only 200 watts and can ride up hills super fast once it gets going and using only 200 watts max it saves the battery and is able to go 20 miles.

I urge people not to accelerate or go to top speeds unless they know how to ride it with skill.

If you are looking at higher acceleration boards, please let me know your weight and how fast you want to take off. Let me know on my skate quiz here.
