Some tires are better for the riding on wet surfaces. Some are better for off road and others street.
Some use Goodyear rubber tires and others some unknown import brand of tires.
If using it for all terrain, a larger size wheel is preferred. I will also say that the cheap import wheels need to be replaced more often. These are the wheels with low quality rubber and usually don't give the best ride. They have super slow rolling resistance and don't let you coast for a long range. E-Glide puts on Goodyear wheels which are the most expensive of all wheel brands that I have found.

For non all terrain, wheels with the highest rebound urethane are the best. The cheaper ones use the hard urethane and gives a rough ride because they are so crappy.

A lot of people end up gettign their own replacement wheels from a skate store. The smaller wheels make the board go at a different speed than the larger wheels. The bigger wheels go over cracks on the street and side walk better but the smaller wheels keep the board closer to the ground and have the fastest acceleration time (see my acceleration page). The smaller wheels aslo give a lower center of gravity and easier to balance and most preferred by street skaters as its easier to move. People use less energy to push a board with small wheels than bigger wheels.

Note: Many wheels have a center core of hard plastic. This makes it lighter a solid type polyurethane wheel. Also know if the rims are made of steel or aluminum.

Most all terain boards have wheels with radiuses of 5.5 to 8 inches. Each size gives it a different feel. The wider wheel base helps so the rider doesn't get tipped over as easily when going off road.

Let me know on my quiz where you will mostly be riding your electric skateboard and I will help find the wheels I think would best fit you. Take the skate quiz here.
