There are many different lithium batteries qualities and just because one is rated at a higher voltage or higher amperage doesn't mean its better. It can be more powerful but not better quality. I learned this in RC car racing. I use ONLY MaxAmps batteries for my car. My car goes over 100 and is infused. I spent thousand of dollars infusing each titanium part and even the motor. (NOTE, you can also infuse the battery of one of these electric skate board batteries or just add it to it. There are people that send in their motors and batteries to get them infused. It takes about 3 weeks though or you can instantly add it to it which is still effective if you have about 6 of them on the board.
I prefer riding with 36 volt batteries over 24 volt ones. I know a good lipo battery when the acceleration isn't slowed down when 20% of the battery supply is used up. Many boards lose their acceleration boost after the first part of riding it. If I go up hills for about 5 minutes on the cheaper batteries the G force is not felt as much anymore. Its a noticeable difference to almost anyone. Eglide uses super high end batteries that have high amperage and constant wattage. The Pipemaster also has the lowest amperage battery I have used but its super quality and the acceleration pretty much stays the same until the battery is about 90% dead. The Eglide pulls so much amperage that the battery supplies its maximum amp rating even till the point where the battery is about used up.
To ride longer the batteries that use the least amperage ride the longest. Having a big battery that uses little amperage should last around 20 miles on one charge.
The best batteries have about 500 charges until the battery goes bunk. Cheaper batteries have much less charging capacities. If a battery costs 700 dollars to get a new high end battery and lasts you 500 cycles, thats a little over 1 dollar to use it each time. The cheaper ones if you get half as many charges will cost over 2 dollars if you are measuring the cycles it uses up each time. When my friends want to use my board, they know to give me 2 bucks and a dollar for the electricity used to charge the battery. It basically costs about 3 bucks to use the electric skateboard each time if you run it till the battery is fully used.
Note: The Pipemaster battery claims it is rate for 1000 charges. We are riding the Pipemaster for 4 full charges a day to see if it actually will. Time will tell if this rating is true but based on their other specs I assume it is.
There are several companies that use the higher end batteries. I have sent in electric skateboard batteries to the hobbyists that build RC cars over 100 mph and they tell me if a battery is a good one or not.
Let me know on my quiz what your usage is and I will find the battery type that is best based on the answers you choose. Take the skate board quiz here.
